What's the big idea?
Like Simi Belo, Bharti Vyas and Enoch Williams, many of
us are capable of taking an idea from inspiration to innovation.
Indeed the ethnic hair and beauty sector is full of opportunities
and stories of incredible creativity. However, few of us
make that step from creativity to innovation. L'Oreal's
new Institute for Ethnic Hair and Skin Research is a testimony
to the enormous potential of the market, yet there are sadly
few UK manufacturers creating new products for the increasingly
diverse and demanding ethnic hair and beauty sector.
The London Development Agency's Jumpstart programme was
devised to encourage SMEs to work with London's knowledge
base to turn great ideas into profitable new ventures. The
Connect Scheme provides grants of up to £10,000 covering
50% costs for businesses to use services provided by London's
Universities, with the aim of introducing a new product
or service within the business.
As part of our Business Edge initiative, Salon Strategies
has teamed up with the London Metropolitan University's
Herbal Medicinal Science Unit to encourage salon owners,
stylists and inventors to exploit their ideas for products
based on herbal or traditional hair and beauty remedies.
So if you've got that big idea for a new product, then
now's the time to get it tested. Come along to our next
Innovation Panel in July 2005.
During this half-day seminar you will hear from Leslie
Maruziva of the London Innovation Unit, Dr. Don Greene of
London Metropolitan University, and Glyn Hughes of the Patent
Office who will help answer the following questions:
- How can I turn an old family remedy into a marketable
product?
- How can I sell my products on an international market?
- How do I make sure my remedy is safe?
- How do I finance the next step from inspiration to innovation?
After lunch, you'll have the chance to work with our experts
to complete your own application for Connect funding. Don't
miss this opportunity to exploit the commercial potential
of your product ideas!
Call Salon Strategies NOW on 020 7377 9922 and ask
